When Television Meets Arts

Catriona plays in the Elgar Room at the Royal Albert Hall on 29th March.

Following a sell-out debut show in 2019, multi award-winning classical soloist, choreographer, arts broadcaster and musicologist Menaka PP Bora returns to the Elgar Room for an exciting evening of conversation, dance and music.

As part of the evening, Menaka will be joined by renowned British television broadcaster and Director of Sky Arts TV and Entertainment Philip Edgar-Jones OBE and former Creative Director of the BBC and presenter of acclaimed BBC One series Imagine Alan Yentob, who will take part in a lively conversation on the neo-golden age of British arts television and the changing trends of viewers of arts programmes both on stage and screen.

Menaka’s curated multi-disciplinary performance will include selected Western classical compositions in conversations with experimental Asian dance and music, including selected contemporary expressions of the 16th century classical Sattriya dance of Assam, choreographed by the former leading star artiste of Oscar-winning French film director Louis Malle, and the legendary Indian classical and Bollywood film choreographer and Padmashree awardee, Indira PP Bora.

She will also be joined by renowned guest musicians Richard Cubitt, Professor John Baily, Sulaiman Haqpana and Catriona Bourne for the live performance.
